Paintings develop in the red/green-phase in the same way as in Improvisation I: Different colours are applied to the canvas, layer over layer, with a palette knife.

| Up to 20 different colours overlay each other. Because of the different drying times of the several layers it can take a painting up to one year before it comes to life. |

| Red and green tones dominate this phase, but still a light stripe appears through the middle of the picture and divides it. |
